Did switching from a corporate non-profit job with benefits to a position in the Behavioral health and Mental health meet my expectation?

I do feel switching career positions have met my expectations of wanting to “be the change I want to see” in the world. I earned a Bachelor degree as a Multi-media Specialist/Web Designer I work several free lance assignments and for a non-profit organization for 11 years. I enjoyed creating and designing still I enjoyed volunteering to help others more. I always enjoyed being able to work with other individuals for a good cause or outcome.

I had job benefits but not contentment. I had a feeling that there is something else I need to pursue. My happiest moments are when I volunteer to work on worthy causes with others. I pursued a career in the Behavioral and Mental Health field after observing flash mobs of young adolescents physically beating up on one adolescent and consistently seeing damage done to the city and stores in 2012.

I hope to be a resource that could support and provide guidance to others to help reframe the negative thoughts of “hopelessness” and “not caring about his/her life or anyone else life” to positive thoughts of living in the present moment for the possible good things life can offer. Some days I miss the security of benefits consisting of medical, dental, paid time off, vacation time, and paid holidays after working 10 hour days 5 days per week. Then I take a moment to enjoy the optomistic feeling of being part of positive change in society to provide peace and growth in human aspiration.
