In the post pandemic environment there is concern about employee shortage in the workplace. When there is an employee shortage it naturally builds up to an extreme workload for current employees. Is it safe to say that both circumstances lead to burnout as a combination? However, there are times when some companies accept heavy workloads with the appropriate number of employees hired.
It should be the company responsibility to reduce the workload to accommodate the employee ability to provide service. Is it allowed for the employee of such company to express his/her desire to set a limit to the amount of work he/she will complete to keep from experiencing burnout without getting laid off or fired? This thought can also be carried over to personal pursuits. When an individual is doing chores in the home that may have 3-4 individuals living there only one individual attempting to keep the home organized the workload is unbalanced leading to burnout.
It is perplexing to determine which is more of an accelerate to becoming burned out employee shortage or an extreme workload?
